Medigap plans are standardized in most states, meaning plans with the same letter generally offer the same basic benefits. Availability and rules can vary by state.
Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period is a one-time 6-month period that begins when you are 65 or older and enrolled in Medicare Part B. During this period, you generally have important federal protections when purchasing a Medigap policy.
After this period, your options may be different depending on your circumstances and applicable protections.
Medigap policies sold after 2005 generally do not include prescription drug coverage. If you want Medicare prescription drug coverage, you can generally enroll in a separate Part D plan.
